We managed to keep Leila alive four months!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Yesterday Leila turned four months.

At this point, she’s:

  1. smiling, giggling, squealing and looking adorable in general.
  2. rolling around on the floor and holding herself up on her arms.
  3. attempting to eat rice cereal. Unfortunately, the food doesn’t get into her mouth fast enough.
  4. “talking” in her adorable baby speak
  5. sleeping in her crib. This is a big one. She was finally too big to stay in her bassinet, so last night we moved her into her room. Our bedroom is ours again! … well except for the diapers, picture books, onesies, coloring books and crayons and dollies.

I’m sure that Jeff will have some other things that I’ve forgotten. He’s pretty good at telling me things that I’ve forgotten to say or do. 😛

June 24 – On the boat with Grandpa

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Jack, Jeff, Leila and I all went on Grandpa’s boat for dinner and black flies. I was the only one afflicted with the evil black flies, but such is life. Jack had a blast scampering back and forth on the deck. He wanted to be the captain, and Grandpa, being the softy that he is, let him steer (is that what you do with a boat?) the boat for a while.

We went on Lake Ontario, and we had to the muck in the Genesse river is VILE.

Here’s a picture of Jack and Grandpa, the two captains.

There are more pictures that will be posted, but for now here’s a picture that Jack took of his feet.

And he’s put my daughter to sleep! Of course, since he went to sleep hours ago, she’s woken up again. Darn.

June 16 – A Walk in Your Shoes

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Jack decided to take a walk in his daddy’s shoes while he ate pancakes this morning.

I don’t know if you can tell, but there was syrup (or as he calls it, ketchup) all over his face.

We went for a walk along the path today and he found some maple leaves that he wanted to show his daddy. I wish that I could wear maple leaves and stay hidden sometimes. It doesn’t work as well for me as it does a four year old. Darn.

More Leila bits and pieces photos. I figure that I should get as many photos of little Leila’s fingers and toes before she becomes big Leila and my screaming meatloaf baby is gone.

June 15 – Add two parts cranky and three parts exhaustion

Monday, June 15th, 2009

This was my day. I was tired and cranky, Leila was cranky and needy, and once Jack got home he was a bit tired, since they work him pretty hard at daycare and he didn’t take a nap today. For the first time so far, Leila was really driving me out of my mind. Sure, she annoys me some times, but this was the first time that I really felt at wits end. Of course part of it could have been that I was completely exhausted too.

It wasn’t all bad though. Jack is still a dear and I think eventually Leila will be a dear too.

June 14 – Baa Baa Go to Sleep

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Jack was a sheep in our church’s end of the Sunday School year play. His younger cousin Ben was also a sheep and his older cousins, Sarah and Rachel were fat and skinny cows. Don’t ask. You really needed to be there.

The adorable girl feeding Leila is our Choir Director’s daughter. We were at their house for our end of the year choir party and she asked to feed Leila. How could I refuse?

June 13 – A Walk in the Park

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Jack, Leila and I went for a walk through our neighborhood and checked out a couple of the playgrounds in the area.

One of the playgrounds we went to was one of those old wooden ones and reminded me of the one that was near my house that we always played at when we were kids. The one from my childhood was much bigger. It was really awesome, but about ten years ago they tore it down. 🙁

Leila, as usual, was sleeping the whole time, but as soon as we got home she woke up and started crying. Oh well, at least she looked cute at the time.
